Giving up isn't an option
...My junior year in high school changed when I met a boy. This boy led me down a path that I was not accustomed to and caused me to distance myself from my family and friends. Not only that, but this relationship caused me to drop out of school two months before it was time for me to graduate. This took an extreme toll on my life and caused a lot of pain for the people I love and care about the most. Before I knew it, I traded my bed in for sleeping in abandoned houses and unoccupied cars. A Note about Fathers
…But the result is that for a hundred years, some fathers have been forced to separate from their partners and children in their most difficult time as a family. The assumption that fathers will not be accepted into a shelter is so entrenched that many families do not tell us the father needs help too. They assume we would not accept him. A story of hope for the holidays
A year ago she arrived at our Day Center with her teenage daughter. Both had literally been on the street. Both daughter and mom had special needs, so the emotional toll was already great. They finally knew where their next meal was coming from, and where they would sleep. We thought things were stable. We scheduled a routine medical checkup.It was Stage IV.
